River Cats fall to Sounds

West Sacramento, Calif. - The Sacramento River Cats fell to the Nashville Sounds, 9-5, on Sunday at Raley Field in the first meeting between the two teams this season. The game featured 4 lead changes as the Sounds scored 5 runs in the top of the 7th inning to take a 4-run lead they would not relinquish. First baseman Dan Johnson led the Sacramento offense going 3-for-4 with 1 run, 3 RBI and a solo home run to right field in the 5th inning. Cats infielders Keith Ginter and John Baker combined to drive in the remaining 2 Cats runs on a double and a walk, respectively. Lefty reliever Mark Watson took his 2nd loss with the River Cats this season, his 3rd overall, giving up 1 hit, 3 runs (all earned) and 2 walks in just 1/3 of an inning. Reliever Jay Witasick gave 2 earned runs in 2/3 of an inning of relief. With the loss, Sacramento falls to 62-54 and 13 games behind 1st place Tucson.
